Round 33! Bestie Twin Nails with The Little Canvas!

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

So last month's BTN was super late and this month's is super early, lol! We wanted to do something for the Super Bowl and were inspired by a post from Kelli Marissa (formerly the Nail Polish Challenge).

I used my trusty Zoya polishes again. They have the best colors and creme finishes for nail art! I also like to use the same brand for nail art, I know it's weird. And I have the most Zoya creme polishes, lol.

Willa (black)
Emilia (Brown)
Purity (White)
Hunter (Green)

Clearly I need a better detail brush and to practice straight lines, lol!! I also used the Pretty & Polished Wax topcoat to mattify this mani.

Are you a fan of the Super Bowl? I don't have a pony in this race but I'm rooting for the.... (insert team here that won't upset anyone) LOL!!

Be sure to check out Alaina's post to see her nails!

Round 31 of Bestie Twin Nails with The Little Canvas!

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

We've come to the last installment of Bestie Twin Nails with The Little Canvas for 2016! And uhhhh we may have forgotten to post this earlier so let's be honest, I'm phoning it in for this round LOL!!

We went with a simple glitter and dotticure, perfect for NYE. The polishes I used were Wet n Wild Black Creme, Cirque Never Nude, Halcyon, and Helios.

I applied 2 coats of Wet n Wild Black Creme to my nails, except for the middle nail, which was dressed in 2 coats of Cirque Helios. Then I used Cirque Never Nude and Halcyon for my dots on my ring finger. At first, I wasn't sure about the gold with the nude and rose gold but I really liked it together!

Happy New Year! And be sure to check out Alaina's BTN!

Bestie Twin Nails with the Little Canvas! Round 30!

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

It's time for Round 30 of Bestie Twin Nails with Alaina from The Little Canvas! I'm not sure how we've done these for 30 months already! Holy moly!!

Anyway, this time we are doing a flower dotticure. I used all China Glaze polishes for this mani, starting with Kalahari Kiss for the index and ring fingers. Velvet Bow is the pinky finger. I used Blonde Bombshell for the middle finger. For the dots, Velvet Bow, Sun's Up Top Down and Life Preserver were used, along with Blonde Bombshell for the gold dots. One top of topcoat, clearly applied too soon after painting, hence the smearing.

Be sure to check out Alaina's manicure. I'm sure she used something awesome. Or something exactly the same. Probably with more words. Hehee.

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired By A Pattern

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

Today we are inspired by a pattern. If I'm being completely honest, I forgot to do a prompt for this week and luckily I had a random nail art picture in my blog folder. Whoops. I thought I had more time, guys! LOL!

I used Zoya Avery, Sailor anddddddddddddd............... maybe Arizona? I am the worst, I know.

Round 29: Bestie Twin Nails with The Little Canvas!

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose Press Sample

It's time again for Bestie Twin Nails with Alaina from The Little Canvas! Today we are doing a simple orange and black dotticure AND I have two Sally Hansen polishes to review for you!

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Black to Black is a standard black creme. It's very black and could be considered a one coater but I wanted a tiny bit more so I did two coats. Orange Zest is an orange creme and this had a thinner formula, needing 3 coats for complete opacity.

Then I dotted OMGhost from last year's Halloween release onto my ring finger, along with Black to Black. And for the flakies on the middle finger, I added Nine Zero Lacquer Flakie All The Things!

We wanted to add some "goobley eyes" to the pointer finger. My daughter calls googley eyes "goobley eyes" and it just cracks me up every time she says it, lol!

Round 27 of Bestie Twin Nails with The Little Canvas!

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

How is it August and how is it time for another Bestie Twin Nails with Alaina from The Little Canvas??

Today we are doing a beautiful sunflower manicure! Sunflowers are my second favorite flower, just behind daisies. Don't you think a giant field of sunflowers is just so happy and friendly to look at? It's my favorite! So I grabbed some of my favorite Sally Hansen polishes and one of my all time favorite  China Glaze polishes and got to work.

I started with a base of Sally Hansen Byte Blue, a gorgeous cobalt blue creme. I only did one coat because I knew I would be covering most of the nails with other colors or glitter but you do usually need two coats.

For the sunflower detail, I took a small brush and outlined the half circle for the center of the sunflower using Cocoa A Go Go. Then using Sally Hansen Butterscotch and Mellow Yellow to alternate the sunflower petals and used Butterscotch to dot the middle of the brown Cocoa A Go Go. So as not to leave the index and pinky nails out, I added one coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust and then topcoat for all the nails.

Definitely not my best work but I really like these!

Round 26: Bestie Twin Nails with The Little Canvas!

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

BTN Time with Alaina from The Little Canvas!

This time we wanted something simple but still sort of bright and summery.

I used Zoya Ling as my base color (two coats), then used Purity and Willa on a fan brush and did little half lines on my nails. It's SO SIMPLE but I honestly loved these nails so much!

Do you love these? I don't now why I love these so much but I really do!

Twinsie Tuesday: Geometric

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose P

Today's prompt is Geometric and we know I ain't drawing out anything because I am not that talented, lol. So I pulled out some trusty nail vinyls and a few A England polishes: Spirit of the Moors, Gloriana, & Virgin Queen.

Two coats of Spirit of the Moors and once that was dry, I used a herring bone (??) nail vinyl on my ring finger. I applied Gloriana and Virgin Queen and removed the vinyl. A coat of topcoat and voila! I didn't intend for these to look so patriotic but it's quite fitting, seeing as how the Fourth of July is right around the corner.

Sanchez Says... Day Date Nails

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

It's time for another edition of Sanchez Says... and this time, she requested nails for a Day Date. I think of something sort of fun but delicate so I decided to do a saran wrap mani!

I used 3 Nails Inc Polishes: Lexington Gardens (purple), Mayfair Lane (blush), and Soho Place (minty teal).

Starting with a base of Lexington Gardens, I used 2 coats and let that dry for a minute. Then, I blobbed Mayfair Lane and Soho Place onto the nails and used a piece of Saran Wrap to smoosh the colors together. Simple as that! Top coat and done. Boom. You've been nail arted. These Nails Inc bottles are not easy to pose with, by the way :-p

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by Fabric

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

Today we are being inspired by fabric and I had a super cute pattern all picked out and then it was just a dramatic disaster when I went to create the manicure so I had to start from scratch, lol.

I was thinking about what I could do when I looked down at my pajama pants and thought "oh! I can do that in like 5 minutes time!" because of course it was Monday night at 10:30pm when I remembered that I hadn't completed my mani!

So my fabric manicure is inspired by my pajama pants, ha. I'm not sure where these pants are from but they are lightweight for the spring and super cute!

I started with a base of China Glaze Aquadelic, 2 coats. I let that dry for a few minutes and then dotted China Glaze Make Some Noise and used Call of the Wild for the cherry stems. Then I used Kalahari Kiss for the leaves and attempted to use Sally Hansen OMGhost for the cherry shine thing and also for the dots.

Yeah yeah, not very neat but I was in a hurry lol! If I had taken my time, I think this would have been super cute! Maybe I'll try again when I'm less hurried!

Twinsie Tuesday: Tulips

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

Tulips, tulips.. one of the beautiful signs of spring! I am carefully proclaiming that spring is finally here and here to stay! The weather lately has been gorgeous, the birds chirping, the sun shining, the clouds... not in sight! I am jubilant about these facts.

I decided to try the Tulip manicure that is not new and I just simply haven't ever tried. I started with two coats of Essie's Stones n' Roses and then used Essie In Stitches for the tulip part of the nails.

Round 23 of Bestie Twin Nails with The Little Canvas!

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

You know what time it is: BESTIE TWIN NAILS TIME with Alaina from The Little Canvas. Guys. GUYS... we've been doing this feature for almost 2 years!! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!? Oh boy, I guess we need to do a giveaway at Round 24, eh? ;-) And lookie!! We have a fancy graphic, courtesy of Sarah from 25_Sweetpea! Thank you!!! We love pineapples.

For this BTN, we decided to do some cute little clouds, inspired by this blog post here. Usually, I would say because this is springtime but it's been snowing and gross here lately and is just now finally starting to resemble spring. Come on, buddy... you can do it! Just warm up and give me some sunshine!

For my base, I used two coats of Zoya's Rocky. I forgot I owned this polish until I was organizing in my helmer drawers last week and it's just so pretty. It's a bright blue but with a hint of gray to it.

Then I dotted some little clouds with Zoya's Purity and drew the little smiley faces on with Willa.

Aren't they cute??

Round 22 of Bestie Twin Nails with The Little Canvas! Splatter!

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

It's time yet again for another Bestie Twin Nails with Alaina from The Little Canvas! For this month, we wanted to do a simple splatter manicure using some greens for St. Patrick's Day. We decided to do a gradient under the splatter!

I grabbed a few of my favorite Zoya's and got to work. I started with a base of Zoya Josie, then used Josie and Veruschka for my gradient. I used Zoya Richelle for my splatter and applied a little bit of Maria Luisa for some extra gold fabulousness. And then some INM Out The Door topcoat.

Super splattery, right? Haha.

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired By A City

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

For inspired by a city, I chose to attempt to recreate one of the gorgeous Michigan sunsets that are often photographed by the Mackinac Bridge and Mackinac Island (and if you are curious as to how to pronounce that, it's pronounced "mack-in-aw"). Mackinac Island is a Michigan treasure for several reasons, but one of the things that I love most about Mackinac Island is that there are no cars allowed on the island! The only vehicle is an ambulance. Everyone else uses horses and bicycles. Even the mail and UPS carriers! So be careful where you step, lol. The Island is beautiful and easy to walk or bike and let's not forget all of the delicious fudge shops. Seriously, there are probably about 30 and the island is only 9 miles in circumference! Anyway... this was the city that first came to mind for this prompt!

I googled Mackinac Bridge and this picture caught my eye. Immediately I knew this would be difficult for me to recreate for lots of reasons, primarily because this requires lots of small detail work but I couldn't stop thinking about this so I had to try!

I grabbed some Pretty Serious Cosmetics polishes for this manicure! The polishes used were:
  • Forbidden Fruit
  • Generally Hazardous
  • Cuddle Bunny
  • Gloomy Kitty
  • Yuletide of the Machines
  • Morning Java
I started with Forbidden Fruit as my base color but you obviously can't see it since the gradient covered it up, lol. Then I used Forbidden Fruit, Generally Hazardous, Gloomy Kitty, and Cuddle Bunny for my gradient on a cosmetic sponge. One coat of topcoat and waiting... waiting.... Then I used Morning Java to draw the Mighty Mac and the suspension lines and then highlighted the golden parts of the bridge that represent the sun shining with Yuletide of the Machines.

And don't ask my why I decided to switch bottles in between pictures, lol!!

These are by no means perfect but I guess they aren't terrible? I am always on the look for the tiniest detail brush possible and I thought I was using one small enough but the lines still aren't small enough for me, lol.

What is your favorite city??

Bestie Twin Nails with The Little Canvas Round 21! Arrows!

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

It's time again for a Bestie Twin Nails with The Little Canvas! This time, we were inspired by Paulina's Passions and her fabulous arrow manicure, as I made Alaina start watching the tv show Arrow and now she's hooked ;)

I grabbed some of my Virago Varnish polishes for this mani and got to work. I used Bloody Mary, a very very dark red burgundy creme. I did two coats so it appeared as dark as possible. Then I used 2 coats of Crave, which is opaque in 1 coat! Amazing.

Next I applied two coats of Don't Turn On The Light, a stunning dark teal holo glitter. For the arrows, I used Bloody Mary and Scandalous. My arrows are really wonky but I can't seem to find a small enough detail brush for things like this. What's your fave detail brush??

I definitely need to practice my detail work but I like this manicure! Also, if you don't watch Arrow, you should. It's pretty awesome :)

Sanchez Says... Tea Party Nails

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

Today I am starting a new series on the blog called Sanchez Says...

What is this, you ask? I'm here to tell you. My friend Sanchez recently asked me if I had some manicures that fell into certain categories and by some, I mean she asked for about 15 different topics/themes, etc., lol. As you know, I am trying to expound on my nail art techniques and practice so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to hold myself accountable and also try some techniques and art that I wouldn't normally (because I literally groaned at one of the suggestions, lol!!)

I started with one of my favorite suggestions: Tea Party Nails. After a quick search, I came across these nails and they were so cute, I didn't even keep looking for others.

The polishes used: (All Zoya)
- Wednesday
- Purity
- Lidia
- Odette
- Logan

I applied 2 coats of Wednesday, the gorgeous minty blueish green, to all of my nails except for the pinky nail, which was the recipient of Odette, a lovely dusty purple color.

Then I used some large dot nail vinyls and some stripe vinyls on my index and ring fingers and applied Purity over those, and then removed the nail vinyl before the polish could dry. I'm still working on getting super crisp lines in this aspect of nail art and you wouldn't think it is that difficult but for me, it's a challenge!

OPI Stripes & Pink Week!

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

Today's Pink post is going to be a recreation of a manicure that the incomparable Sarah from Chalkboard Nails created. Seriously, her nails and her designs are perfect. Mine are definitely not, lol.

The polishes I used were:
OPI You're So Vain-illa (3 coats and kind of streaky. Womp)
Mod About You
La Paz-itively Hot
Over & Over A-Gwen

I simply used a striping brush to draw the dots and a little dotting tool for the heart. I wish I had used a less beige base but oh well, right?

Zoya Heart Manicure & Pink Week

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

For Pink/Heart/Love Week today, I'm doing this manicure inspired by this Pinterest link.

I used Zoya Chyna, one of the original Pixie Dusts, on my index and pinky fingers. Then Zoya Purity on the middle and ring fingers. Pepper, Tart and DOve were used for the red and pink hearts and gray dots.

Twinsie Tuesday: Romantic

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

Today we are doing Romantic Manicures. I recently purchased one of the new Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel polishes in Stay Classy and thought that would be the perfect base for this prompt. This is a really pretty mauve color. I am consistently impressed with Wet n Wild polishes, they are opaque in 2 coats and have really great formula's. The 'gel' technology doesn't really matter to me so I didn't test this for wear time but I love the color!

Then I added a heart spiraly nail vinyl and another WnW Megalast in Haze of Love (which I didn't realize until typing this up, lol. How fitting!)

Whatchu think?
