OPI Good Grief

A quick post today to show you OPI's Good Grief from the Peanuts collection that was released last fall. I found this polish at TJ Maxx for $3.99 and I'm glad I didn't pay more for it because the formula was pretty terrible and streaky. This was three coats and you can still see some patchiness on several fingers. Yuck. But it's a bright yellow color and I was feeling yellow!

GlitterDaze Forbidden Fairy Dust

I'm just going to let you drool over that macro for a second.....













Ready? Okay. Today I have GlitterDaze Forbidden Fairy Dust over Rolling In The Bay. I don't really need to even say anything about this because I mean, hello. Look at this picture. I used two coats of RITB and one coat of Forbidden Fairy Dust, then topped it with my super topcoat (a mixture of three topcoats I am trying to use up, lol).

Go buy this because it's amazing.

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired By Your Shoes

How's it hanging, y'all? I was supposed to have several posts ready for this week buutttt I got lazy. Whoops.

Today's Twinsie Tuesday prompt is Inspired By Your Shoes. I have lots of shoes. Before I had my baby, I enjoyed wearing high heels and such as it seemed like we had a wedding every week to attend. Now that I am at home with my daughter, I don't really wear fancy shoes so I chose to use be inspired by the shoes that I wear pretty much anytime I leave the house.

My Skechers (it's the S!). I love these. They are so comfortable. Like. SO comfortable. They are just simple slip on shoes but I love them enough to buy two additional pairs as back ups, lol!

So for my manicure, I started with 2 coats of Lac Attack Silver & Cold from the Festivus collection. This is a really pretty polish with gold flakes in it and I thought the silver would look closest to the gray shoe color.

Then I used Urban Decay Addiction, which I purchased from HauteLook* a few months ago. I used a small striping brush to try to draw the loops and lines and S, but yeah. Not great, lol.

Not my greatest but it's passable, I think. I'm trying! Heehee!

NYC Individual Eyes Palette in SoHo Grand

NYC Individual Eyes palettes are an affordable drugstore option for eyeshadows. The palettes are about $2.99, depending on where you live.

I have the SoHo Grand palette to review today, which is a purple palette and that's right up my alley!

Each palette comes with a cream eye primer and highlighter and 4 eyeshadows.

These colors are really pretty and I especially love the brighter crease color! I swatched these over the primer that is included in the palette.

The highlighter shade can be applied over the shadows to create a soft metallic look. I could not capture that in photos but it was very pretty!

Bestie Twin Nails with The Little Canvas: Round 9

It's time for another Bestie Twin Nails with Alaina from The Little Canvas! Any guesses as to this month's inspiration? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller???? Okay fine, I'll tell you! We loved this picture from Nailsbydaniellet on Instagram, featuring a Burberry inspired manicure.

I don't know if you've noticed, but I like to use one brand for my different nail art looks. I like the cohesiveness of saying "I used such and such brand" for some reason. OCD, much? Yes, lol. Well that didn't happen like I wanted for this, wah! I ended up using:

Essie Recessionista
Essie Chinchilly
Salon Perfect Sugar Cube
Art Club Black Striper

I used Essie Chinchilly on my middle and ring fingers, and this had a pretty terrible formula and was really streaky. Boo on you, Essie. I believe this was 3 coats. Recessionista was 2 coats and had a much better formula.

Then I swiped one streak of Salon Perfect Sugar Cube down the nail and one swipe across the width of my nail, let that sit for a minute and striped the black lines using my recently discovered stripers that I thought were lost but were really only hidden next to Mount Polish, which is what I call the stacks of boxes that contain my untried nail polishes that is growing out of control.

ANYWAY, that's a different story.

Then I used a striping brush and striped Recessionista down the length and one across the width. I was all "ohh look at my straight lines" and then I turned my hands to face me and.. uhh... nope. Not straight at all. We will call this the Bootleg Burberry design, lololo! I did add a topcoat for these pictures.

Even though these are far from perfect, I did like these quite a lot!! I'm liking my little foray into nail art, whatchu thaaaank?

Twinsie Tuesday: Pond Manicure

I hope everyone had a great holiday season and New Year! We are dealing with a lot of stuff right now; if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you will know that I asked for prayers for my family as my future SIL was in a severe car accident. There is still a lot going on with that but I can't do anything but wait and pray so I am trying to keep myself busy with nail polish. If you have been praying for her, we greatly appreciate it and please keep it up!

But now, onto the reason you are here...nails! And guess what?? I'm a Twinsie Tuesday Girl now! I'm so excited and nervous, lol! You guys know nail art is not my forte but I am hoping that this will help to develop any skill I might have in the nail art arena :-)

For this weeks prompt, the theme was Pond Manicure. I'll be really honest.... I had no idea what that meant. A quick google search indicated that it's basically a jelly sandwich but with some sort of nail art, rather than just glitter.

I decided to use one of my most favorite jellies evah, China Glaze Rainstorm and a gorgeous dark navy blue from the All Aboard collection, One Track Mind and some nail vinyls. Are nail vinyls cheating?? Oops! LOL

I used one coat of Rainstorm, let it dry and then used my starburst vinyls from GlitterDaze. Then I applied one coat of One Track Mind and holy moly was this super opaque. Then I let that dry and applied one and maybe two coats of Rainstorm. You can see on my index finger that I was a little heavy handed with the Rainstorm!

This was pretty fun! I liked the starburst and while it's not a groundbreaking design, I'M A NEWBIE, GUYS!

New Goals For 2015

There will be no nails in this post, just a warning! :-)

I just wanted to take a minute to talk about some of the goals I have for 2015 and for my blog. I love painting my nails, I love color, I love glitter, I love holo. My love for these things has resulted in piles of untried nail polish. I lovingly refer to this as Mount Polish. Seriously, it looks like the Agro Crag and there are bottles carefully and precariously stacked as high as possible.

Last year, I tried to do Operation Helmer and that was fairly successful for a bit but then something happened...and... I don't even know what happened. I guess my starting to blog more regularly kind of shifted my focus from my helmers to newer polishes that I was either sent to review or had purchased myself.

This year, I'm trying to once again focus on using the polish that I have and I'm *trying* to go on a very long low buy (which is already failing, btw :-/) I say it all the time but I'm like a magpie: I see shiny things and they draw me in. I have no memory of any polishes that I currently own that are probably identical! It's a real problem, lol.

So a good chunk of my blog this year will hopefully be swatches or manicures of just plain polish. Not necessarily new collections, but just me using my collection. There will be Bestie Twin Nails and reviews of anything that is sent to me, but I am going to try my hardest to not go crazy buying nail polish this year. I'm also wanting to destash and purge but we all know how difficult that can be. The struggle is real, people.

I just wanted to let everyone know that there will be a shift in my blog and while my blog may become somewhat irrelevant, as the newest polishes won't always be featured, I hope that you will stick around and enjoy my polish collection with me!
