Swatch & Review: NYC & Rimmel

Hey guys!

Press Sample

Today I have some goodies from NYC New York Color and Rimmel to share with you! There are quite a few so let's get to it! I am going to do eye products first and then lip products so we'll skip around a bit with the brands.

First up, from NYC. The Show Time Kohl Kajal Eyeliner is available in 4 colors and retails for $2.99: True Black, Deep Brown, Deep Grey, and Purple Glam. These come in a cone shaped applicator which provides a precise application. These are very pigmented; the swatch shown is one swipe of each color!

Next from Rimmel, the Magnifeyes Double Ended Shadow and Liner! This product comes in 5 colors and retails for about $6-$7, depending on where you purchase it: 001 Back to Black, 002 Kissed By A Rose Gold, 003 Queens of the Bronzed Age, 004 Dark Side of Blue, 005 Pink & Purple Rain. I have three of the shades to show you and I am pretty excited about them.

From left to right, Kissed By A Rose Gold, Queens of the Bronzed Age, and Dark Side of Blue. I. Love. These! The eyeshadow side is LIKE BUTTAH, so smooth and so comfortable to apply. The eyeliners are also very smooth and easy to apply, even though the blue eyeliner was slightly less creamy to apply because it is a matte.

Lastly, I have 4 shades from the NYC New York Color Get It All Lip Color. These retail for $2.99 and are available in 10 shades: ImpREDssive, WondeREDful, IncREDible, FUCHSIAtastic, FabFuchsia, Pinkdigious, ExeptioNUDE, MOCHAmazing, ExtraordiBERRY, TerrifiCORAL.

The shades I have MOCHAmazing, FabFUCHSIA, WondeREDful, ExtraordiBERRY. You get hand swatched and lip swatches, AREN'T YOU SO EXCITED?!

MOCHAmazing

 FabFUCHSIA

WondeREDful

ExtraodiBERRY

The lipsticks were very comfortable and quite pigmented. This was two swipes for each lip swatch. I think FabFUCHSIA and WondeREDful were my favorite!

I LOVE AFFORDABLE makeup! It's my favorite thing! Have you tried any of these products? What did you think?

Stocking Stuffer Ideas For the Beauty Lover! Part 2!

Hey guys!

Press Sample

Part 2 of the stocking stuffer ideas for the beauty lover in your life! Today I have 4 out of the many ELF kits that are available this holiday season! These are available at Target and many places makeup is sold. I personally have seen all of these at my local Meijer, as well.

The first set, also the largest that I have to share, is called the All About Nude 32 Color Eyeshadow Palette. It comes with, surprise surprise, 32 eyeshadows, the elf Eyeshadow Primer (which is really good, by the way!), and two brushes: a flat brush and an all over shadow brush. This set retails for $10!! A great gift for pretty much anyone, as there are nudes but also a few pops of color!

Next we have the Glossy Glam Lips set, which retails for $5. This has 3 lip glosses in subtle shades, including a clear shimmer, peach, and bright pink. These have quite a perfume-y smell, which I don't mind but I do know that some people are sensitive to scents so I wanted to mention that tidbit.

Next, the Shimmer Eyes 5 piece eyeliner set, retailing for $5. These are wooden pencils but each pencil has a built on sharpener on the lid, so you never have to worry about finding a sharpener! These are surprisingly creamy for wooden pencils! Four of the five eyeliners have glitter; only the white is glitter-free.

Lastly, for the lip lover! The Long Lasting Lips kit includes two of the Moisturizing Lipsticks, one Long Wear Lipliner, and one Lip Lock Pencil, which can act as a primer or as a clear lipliner to prevent feathering and bleeding. This kit retails for $10.

Lipliner: Natural Blush
Lipsticks: Berry Kiss and Pink Mink

Have you spotted these elf sets anywhere? Elf is such an affordable brand and this is a great way to get a lot of bang for your buck and deliver a fantastic gift, at the same time!

Makeup Monday: NYC HD Automatic Liner

Hey guys!

Press Sample

Yay a makeup Monday post! I have been slacking on these, I know. But I have one today so let's get to it.

I received 4 of the NYC HD Automatic Eyeliners to share with you. These are an extremely affordable drugstore eyeliner option and they have a smudger on the end to help smudge your eyeliner. AND the eyeliners work really well! Let's get to pictures!

In all of these pictures, the eyeliners are swatched without primer. The top swatch is one swipe and the bottom swatch is a few swipes to build up the color. These apply like a regular matte eyeliner.

Navy Blue

Deep Brown

Turquoise (this guy has glitter in it!)

Deep Purple

These were really easy to use and lasted throughout the day. I will say that I didn't care for the smudger, as it basically removed the eyeliner, instead of blending it. However, that did come in handy when I went a little haywire with one of my liner wings, lol. I just used the smudger to remove the mistake! Voila!

These eyeliners retail for $1.99 and are available at mass merchandisers nationwide. There is also a black color available!

butter London Shine Out Loud Review + Giveaway!

Hey guys!

Press Sample

I was recently offered the chance to try some of butter London's newer cosmetic products and I was stoked to discover that they kindly sent doubles of everything so you know what that means.... yeeahhhhh, a giveaway! Stay tuned to the end ;-)

The Wink Eye Pencil in Union Jack Black is a black kohl eyeliner. It is VERY creamy and glides on like a puff of air. That makes no sense but it really does glide on like a dream. I did have a bit of transfer even though I wore an eye shadow primer.

Bloody Brilliant Lip Crayon in Ladybird is "an all in one formula of highly pigmented colour and intense shine". I LOVE that there is a built in sharpener in the cap! So bloody convenient. Bahaha, get it? I am hilarious. And GUYS! THIS SMELLS LIKE CHOCOLATE MINT. I am dead serious. It's divine.

Iconolast Mega Volume Lacquer Mascara claims a "300% increase in volume with one coat, boosting lashes with the double feature, molded mascara brush". I am always confused by these ball ends on the brush. BUT I did like this mascara, it applied nicely, the formula wasn't too dry or too wet. I applied one coat.

Here's mah whole face: I'm warning you, I'm only wearing the products I am reviewing!

Ladybird is a tomato red polish with a crelly like formula. I used 2 coats and it covered nicely and have an easy formula.

New! Milani Fierce Foil Eyeliners!

Hey guys!

Nothing To Disclose

Milani is quickly becoming one of my favorite drugstore brands! When I saw an end cap display with some new Fierce Foil Eyeliners and Foil polishes, I had to grab some to try! And of course I didn't save the packaging for both eyeliners. Guys, I was too excited!! LOL

There are 4 colors:
01 Black Gold Foil
02 Purple Foil
03 Brown Foil
04 Navy Foil

I bought the Black Gold and the Purple Foil!

The eyeliner claims:

  • Long Wearing
  • Rich, Intense, Metallic Foil Finish
  • Custom Designed Brush
I like that each package comes with a little brush and as far as I can tell, the glitter/foil is not an overspray, it is the entire product!

02 Purple Foil swatched lightly and then heavy handed

01 Black Gold Foil swatched lightly and then heavy handed

I love the purple eyeliner and I like the black but I wish the gold were more visible. At an angle, you can see the gold but straight on, it looks just like black.

These do appear to smudge after sitting for a while so I fear they will transfer. I will definitely be wearing these with a primer and I will report back on the Twitter and Instagram if there is transfer!

The eyeliners retail for $6.99 and are available online if you can't find them in stores!

Have you seen the new Milani displays yet? Did anything pique your interest??

NYC Midnight Beauty Collection!

Hey guys!

Press Sample

Today's post is a little bit different but something I'm excited about! I have some makeup to review today! New NYC makeup, to be exact! Whoo!

Now, if you follow me on Instagram, you might notice that I've become more and more into makeup recently. I've always loved the pretty packaging and colors but am finally getting more acquainted with wearing it! Great concept, right? Use the products you buy! So hopefully I will be reviewing makeup on the blog here and there. I will probably schedule those posts as weekend or Tuesday or Thursday posts and keep the nail posts MWF. Cool? Sweet!

Expert Last Lip Color ($1.99). I've never used NYC lipsticks before and THEY SMELL LIKE CHERRIES!!! WHY didn't anyone tell me this?! MMMMMMMM, so good!

Red or Alive, 1, 2, and 3 swipes (from right to left and yes, I know that's super backwards!)

Immortal Vixen - 1, 2, and 3 swipes, again right to left. This color terrified me a bit in the tube because it looks really dark but I was glad it was a little more sheer. It could definitely be built up to a more opaque color but it's nice to have the option to wear it a little more sheer, for those of us who want the beautiful color but maybe don't want to wear super vampy lips all of the time.

I wore this color one day and it was a little bit drying as it dries to a semi matte finish.

Individual Eyes Custom Compact in Hate The Night ($4.99)
These shadows are pretty basic colors, but staples that most women will want to own. I used the primer all over my eyes, let it set for about 30 seconds and then started applying shadows. I used the
All Over Lid, and lighter crease color on my eyes and the matte black crease color as an eyeliner and then the highlighter on my brow bone. They seemed quite pigmented to apply and there was almost zero fallout, which is awesome because eww fallout.

The shadows wore well throughout the day and didn't fade or blend away. I did notice some creasing by the end of the day. I have a hard time finding any eyeshadow primer that stays put as well as my Milani Eyeshadow Primer!

I do like that the plastic cover for this can be removed but also has notches in the plastic so you can easily replace it in the shadow pan when you are done using the eyeshadows. There's also a little groove for the sponge.

One swipe of each eyeshadow over the primer included in the palette.

Liquid Eyeliner ($2.99)
The applicator on this eyeliner was a brush and as someone who is not even remotely a liquid eyeliner professional, it was a little bit difficult to achieve a straight line. And the line was thicker than I would have liked.

The first line is the thinnest I could make it without wiping product off of the brush, the middle line is how it applied the most easily and the third line is after wiping product off of the brush. I did leave a swipe of this on my hand for about 5 minutes and it still smudged when I tried to wipe it off.

Okay, liquid eyeliner and I want to be friends. We do. But we're sort of frenemies right now. It's mainly my fault, I am not very patient.

You can purchase NYC Products basically everywhere... Target, Walmart, Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens. They are very affordable and a great quality for the price! I'll be checking out some more lipsticks, for sure!
