Girl On Fire Nails!

Hey guys!

Today I'm showing you my attempt at Hunger Games inspired nails. In the book, Katniss gets made over by her prep team and they paint little flames on her nails. This is my attempt at those nails.

Now, I can't say that I came up with this idea myself; I stole borrowed the idea from Ryan's guest post at Nails Made Simple.

I started with a coat of Wet n Wild Black Creme. Then I mattified it! I finally ordered Essie's Matte About You top coat and I was stoked to use it. I didn't photograph this part of the manicure. I'm sure you've all seen Wet n Wild Black Creme somewhere, lol.

Then, using Electrify from China Glaze's Colours From The Capitol, I free hand drew little flames onto my nails with a small art brush.

I dabbed some INM Out The Door on the nails to get rid of some of the grittiness and voila! It's certainly not the best flame manicure I've ever seen but I freaking LOVED these nails. I kinda don't want to take them off, even though I promised Ryan I would attempt a splatter mani today, heehee.

What do you guys think? Have you seen The Hunger Games? I'm planning a post to discuss it that will be full of spoilers. I can't stop thinking about the movie!

Anyway, hope you have a great Saturday!

Talk to you soon!

Hunger Games Week! Disctricts 11 & 12

Hey guys! The day has finally come! YAY!! I am so excited to go see this movie tonight, I can't even tell you. I don't know if I've ever been this excited for a movie!

Anyway, lots of pictures in this post, guys!

Agro (District 11 - Agriculture) is an olive green creme polish. Again, this was two easy coats, no top coat. This was going to be my manicure for going to see the movie but I decided to do something a little more funky. I'll be tweeting pictures of that later and posting about it tomorrow :-)

With a layer of Luxe and Lush.

Next, Smoke and Ashes (Disctrict 12 - Mining) is a black based polish with tiny blue flecks. It mainly looks black with texture. Two easy coats, no top coat.

Luxe and Lush on the ring finger.

So, what do you guys think? I'm liking these colors. That could be the obsessive fan in me :-) Some of these colors aren't terribly original but they are still nice formulas and polishes.

I'd say that if you only have to get one polish, it NEEDS to be Riveting. It's completely gorgeous, flawless application, and it looks great on just about everyone's skin tone (that I've seen). Agro is a very close second favorite, with Electrify and Stone Cold in there as well.

Oh man, SO EXCITED! I hope you guys enjoyed Hunger Games week. I think it's fun to do theme weeks, and it helps to keep me on track, lol. I am thinking next week will be Zoya week; I have a few Zoya gems to share with you all.

May the odds be ever in your favor! And let the Hunger Games begin!!!!!!!!

Hunger Games Week! Districts 9 & 10

Hey guys!

Today I have Districts 9 & 10 for you from the China Glaze: Colours From The Capitol release!

First, Harvest Moon (District 9 - Grain) is a bronzey copper polish. This was 2 easy coats, no top coat.

With Luxe and Lush.

Next, Foie Gras (District 10 - Livestock) is a plummy browny creme polish. This was prettier than I was expecting. Two easy coats, no top coat.

What are you favorites so far from this collection?

Also, check out my Guest Post at Pretty Digits! Thanks to Anna for letting me post on her lovely blog!! :-)

Hunger Games Week - Districts 7 & 8

Hey guys! Only 2 more days until the Hunger Games! YAYYY!!!

Today we have 2 more districts to gaze upon. I'm not going to lie; these two colors are probably my least favorite from this collection. The color is just not right with my skin tone or something. Anyway...

Mahogany Magic District 7 (Lumber). First of all, this is not the color of mahogany. Second, it's too yellow toned for my skin. It looks... just not very pretty on me. This is 2 coats, no top coat. (Excuse the air bubbles, I was still outside doing my nails at this point)

Next is Dress Me Up, District 8 (Textiles). This color isn't ugly, it just doesn't suit me, in my opinion. A mauvey color, this is 2 coats, no top coat.

What do you think?

May the odds be ever in your favor!

Hunger Games Week! Districts 5 and 6

Hey guys!

Today I have two more lovely China Glaze Colours From The Capital to show you!

First is Electrify (District 5 - Power). This is a red and gold micro glitter. Similar to NOPI's Glitter In My Stocking but with more red glitter. Very pretty polish. This is 3 coats, no top coat.

Next, Fast Track (District 6 - Transportation) is a champagne-y, beige-y color with golden shimmer. I think this gives me mannequin hands and I do not like mannequin hands. I'm like a rainbow... I need more color, lol. Two easy coats, no top coat.

Keep checking back this week for more Colours From The Capitol!

May the odds be ever in your favor!

Hunger Games Week! Today: District 1 & 2

Hey guys! Happy Sunday and Welcome to Hunger Games week!!!

OHMYGOSH, I am so excited for Hunger Games week! I have mentioned about 1.2 billion times on Twitter that I'm pumped for this movie to come out. I am new to the Hunger Games madness but I've joined the madness full force. I've read all 3 books in 3 days, and already re-read the first book. I'm planning on reading it again before I go see the movie Friday!

Anyway, let's get to the swatches. I'm sure you've seen these before, but bear with me :-)

I'm going to go in order of Districts. Yep, I'm a nerd. Well okay, these two will be backwards.

First, Stone Cold (District 2 - Masonry)

This is a charcoal matte polish.I used two coats here. Easy application, not much cleanup needed. Actually, almost no cleanup was needed. Hurrah!

Next, I layered Luxe and Lush (District 1 - Luxury) over Stone Cold. Luxe and Lush is a fabulous flakie with orange, blue, and green shifts in it. This is one coat of Luxe and Lush.

I like both of these polishes. I don't wear a lot of mattes usually but this is a nice one and I feel like I should have more mattes in my stash. Probably because I'm a polish hoarder :-p

Stay tuned this week for the rest of the Districts!

May the odds be ever in your favor!
